SALONE DEL MOBILE.MILANO 2023 — ALL THE NEWS!
This edition of the Salone has several novelties, in addition to being focused on sustainability, following a path started with the special supersalone in 2021 and continued last year with the Design with Nature exhibition curated by architect Mario Cucinella.
The organizers have identified suppliers of recycled, recyclable, and reusable materials for the realization of common areas, studying a plan for resource regeneration and waste absorption.
The first major change, compared to the traditional format, is the organization of the exhibition layout all on one level.
This solution simplifies the visiting experience and helps the public to discover as much as possible: the exhibitors of the upper pavilions 8–12 and 16–20 are relocated to the ground floor spaces, to make the path more fluid.
By organizing the pavilions on a single exhibition level, the Euroluce visiting experience is improved, with a new layout designed by the Lombardini 22 studio with an urbanistic system that ensures the optimization of visitor flows and greater visibility for exhibitors.
In pavilion 13, a large arena designed by Formafantasma with a site-specific installation will host talks.
EUROLUCE, AN ILLUMINATED CITY
One of the major changes for the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2023 is the reorganization of Euroluce, the biennial event that focuses on lighting, now in its 31st edition, and located in pavilions 9–11 and 13–15.
The new layout facilitates the flow of visitors and creates an intuitive learning experience, which is further enhanced by the theme “The city of Lights”.
The stands are designed to resemble shop windows facing streets and avenues, punctuated by cafes, seating areas, and charging stations.
Additionally, the exhibition structures are modular, which allows for continuity in other locations, in line with the perspective of sustainability.
CULTURAL EVENTS AT SALONE 2023
The Salone del Mobile.Milano 2023 features a diverse cultural program housed within the Euroluce pavilions, including several exhibitions curated by Beppe Finessi, including Constellations Diffuse, and four other exhibitions curated by various experts in cooperation with exhibition designers.
The program also includes a series of events, workshops, and talks held in Aurore, an arena created by Formafantasma in cooperation with House of Lyria that provides unique immersive experiences.
The talks, curated by Annalisa Rosso, focus on lighting, technology, and sustainability, and feature renowned designers such as Shigeru Ban, Nao Tamura, Kjetil Traedal Thorsen, Marius Myking of Snhetta, and Andrea D’Antrassi of MAD in a series of dialogues with industry journalists on innovation and everyday life topics.
Furthermore, SaloneSatellite features under 35 designers in an exhibition space within the Euroluce pavilions, curated by architect Ricardo Bello Dias, with over 550 participants under the topic Design Schools-Universities / Building the (Im)Possible Process, Progress, Practice.
The website, newsletter, app, and social networks become alternative places to discover new projects and services, including Unboxing, a format for product previews by exhibitors, White Paper, in-depth analysis by famous journalists, and the new season of podcasts dedicated to the protagonists of the week.
The official Salone del Mobile.Milano 2023 app is updated with new services, including augmented reality and wayfinding, but above all allows you to purchase tickets, access detailed information on the exhibited products, and scan their QR codes to learn about their technical features.
For the more traditional communication campaign, instead of the illustrator Emiliano Ponzi from the previous sixtieth edition, the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2023 has involved Gio Pastori and the Milanese studio Leftloft. A colorful “Bruno Munari-style” alphabet declined in twenty-six posters, collected under the title Do you speak design?
